RECYFIX drains new metropolitan quarter in Frankfurt 

For the complex surface drainage in the new European Quarter in Frankfurt there are all types of RECYFIX channels of HAURATON installed. 

Modern residential and business buildings instead of old railway tracks: the youngest city district of Frankfurt is developing across large sections of the city's former goods station. 

There are now no more trains, but many excavators and construction vehicles. A new district is developing! Many of the buildings are already completed and inhabited. The expansive area in the middle of the city and close to the exhibition grounds is intended to provide homes to 14,000 people and more than twice as many workplaces. It is the last large urban development area of this kind in Frankfurt. The railway tracks have already disappeared and now residential and commercial buildings line the Europa avenue. 

For every paved open area there is a suitable surface drainage system required. In this spectacular building project, absolute versatility is demanded in the choice of product: the requirements are so complex and so different from surface to surface that all types of RECYFIX channels from HAURATON are in use. 

All versions of RECYFIX Channels in use

Many of the areas to be drained in the European Quarter are underground car parks, courtyard entrances or pathways between buildings, facades and terraces. The drainage systems have to fulfill very different requirements. In some areas they have to be particularly shallow because of the low installation height in parking areas. Or they need to have a resistant, elegant surface to fit optically into the modern architecture of the buildings. The underground car park at the Skyline Plaza shopping and leisure centre also required extremely flat channels as the floor ceilings allowed only a small height for the installation of drainage solutions.  Therefore, the particularly flat channels of the RECYFIX STANDARD range were successfully installed.  

Award-winning design gratings

In addition to publicly subsidized living space, a large number of luxury condominiums are built along the Europapark. This demanding living space places high demands on the materials used - besides the function, the appealing design is also significant. Due to a large number of channel runs, the planners and building contractors opted for the RECYFIX PRO channels. With the elegant award-winning gratings, it looks very chic and stylish. Moreover, the channels made of high-grade recycled composite are very easy to handle on the construction site. No hoisting equipment is required for installation as the channels and gratings together are often lighter than ten kilograms.  The resistance to breakage of the channel elements is particularly appreciated by the construction companies.  An advantage that applies to all channels from this product range. 

Tailor-made custom work at the construction site 

Facades, terraces and balconies are drained as well in the new European Quarter.  Depending on the requirements, closed or open channel systems can be used.  In order to precisely match the length of the channel, fitting pieces were made directly on the constuction site. Advantage: The recycled composite channels can be shortened quickly and without great effort using standard tools. With respect to cleaning agents, such as the care of facades or windows, the channel material is extremely tolerant.  Here too, the visual appearance is permanently preserved.   

Planned completion 2019 – RECYFIX is already installed. 
The ambitious large-scale European quarter site will be completed on a total area of around 670,000 square metres in just a few years.  HAURATON has been involved from the beginning: Already today, the RECYFIX-channels made of recycled composite are reliably draining various parts of the area.
